Clerical Spell Specification
10. Identify Person
BTS: 68% (At)
ULT: 5 hours
Materials: a pearl
Actions: present Materials to Target
Effect of Throw:
Chance of Success vs
Magical Effects (per Effect) =
(T of Identify Person) / (T of Target Spell) * 50 % (see
Note 3 to calculate T)
Range: 10d ft -5d(d-1)/2 %
Notes:
- Cast on a single living Person ("Target").
- The Effect of Throw gives the chance of identifying Magical Effects
upon Target and of overcoming Misdetection Effects which would prevent
ther identification of the Target and/or any such Magical Effects upon
them. Target does not get a st against the Effect of Throw.
Note that if the Effect of Throw succeeds against any such Effect, it
does not Dispel it.
- The Throw of Elementalist and Druidic Spels is
multiplied by 5 to give their equivalent Throw for Clerical purposes.
Effects and Potions that have resulted from a Spell Cast have the Throw
of that Spell Cast. Effects that have not resulted from a Spell Cast
(e.g. the Effects of Magic Items) have T = 100.
- Provided that any such Misdetection Effects are overcome, Target
must make a st against being Identified. If Identified, Caster
then knows who they are. This will consist of their name (but not
any True Name), origin and any titles, e.g. "Arril I of the House of
Tarm, Emperor of Valdrea", irrespective of whether they are known to
Caster's God (this being a Truthsaying Effect).
- If a Misdetection Effect is not so overcome, it will have its
intended Effect, so Caster may know as the Effect of Identify Magic who
the Misdetect is saying Target is (if Target fails the st, which is
permitted by the Misdetect).
- Caster will also know any Magical Effects upon Target against which
the Effect of Throw succeeded, but not their precise specification or
whether the Effects are Clerical, Elementalist or of Potions, etc, e.g.
"they are Protected vs. Law, have Body Armour, Regeneration and are
Misdetected". This includes any Magical Effects of Spells cast by
third parties, if Effect of Throw succeeded against them, e.g. "they
have been Stunned".
