Range: 3d ft -(4+d(d+1)/2) If cast on self, there is no Range minus. If cast on others, Range is at least 0 ft, so there will be a Range minus of at least -4.  If cast on a Being or Object, Shell moves with it.  If cast on a fixed point, it does not move.

Notes:

  1. Cast upon a Target Being, Object or point in space.  Target Beings may make a ST.
  2. Creates a spherical radius effect around Target (moving with Target if it is not a point in space), which functions as a two-way barrier preventing living Animals from entering or leaving the Sphere.  Each time an Animal tries to pass through the Sphere roll <= Chance of Success to prevent it from doing so.  If Chance of Success is 100%, Animals are automatically prevented from passing through, without the need to roll.
  3. The Spell is effective against all living Animals, including Druids and others Shapechanged into Animals, but not against Monsters (such as Lycanthropes or Giant versions of Animals) or Demons (such as Familiars having Animal form).  It has no effect against dead Animal matter (e.g. clothing, furs, bone).
  4. The L4 & L5 Spells are only effective against Animals of the type specifies in their Spell title.
  5. Animals do not get a ST vs the Shell Effect (even if they are Shapechanged Druids or others), but simply check Chance of Success where relevant.
  6. The Shell Effect is blocked by earth or stone (so the Spell is useless vs tunnelling moles!).
  7. Organisms and other parasites within a non-Animal host may pass through the Shell, but it is effective to clear crawling insects or other Animals on a body (e.g. lice or leeches).  If used against cavalry, it will deter the mount, which will carry its rider away form the Shell.
