5. Transmute Rock to Mud / Mud to
Rock
NB This is one Spell, which may be Cast to make either transmutation
Ranian Cycle
BTS: 66% (Dx(Ph))
ULT: 50 hours
Materials: some water (Rock to Mud) or dust (Mud
to Rock)
Actions: splash / scatter Materials on ground (does not have
to be in Target Area)
1 to 14 No Effect
15 to 19 Radius = 5(T-14) ft
³
20 Radius = 2(T-9) ft
Duration: 5t minutes - t(t-1)/2
Range: 30d ft -d(d-1)/2
Depth: h ft -h
Rock to Mud only:
Glutinousness ("G"): -G(G-1)/2
Movement Restriction = normal speed / G
Speed of Sinking ("S") = G * ((Weight of Victim)/1000) FRU inches per second
(Weight of Victim includes body weight; the weight of a man is
100(Bd+7) wt pts)
Notes:
- Turns
rock into mud or vice-versa over an area of ground within Radius and
down to Depth (the "Target Area") for Duration. Has no
effect on organic materials (e.g. wood, carpet, leaves), but will affect any
rock, earth or mud beneath them.
- Corporeal Beings
on or in Target Area get a ST against being caught.
- A victim caught in mud which is turned to rock is encased in the rock
but not physically harmed by it.
- A victim caught on/in rock which is turned to mud will suffer the
Glutinousness effects and if they become submerged are liable to suffocate.
If they make a ST against being caught in mud, they may continue to move
normally but must make a further ST against being caught for every sec.
they remain wholly on the mud.
- The Glutinousness effect of mud sucks a corporeal Being who fails a ST
vs being caught S feet towards the bottom of the mud n that
second and prevents them moving upwards. They must make a further ST
against sinking S ft every sec until they reach the bottom, but may move
sideways subject to the Movement Restriction. Movement Restriction only applies to those parts sunk into the
mud.
- Gravity / Flying / Levitation type
Spells or Effects or Thievish
Jump are all reduced by the Movement Restriction. Air
type Spells or Effects which require air (e.g. Wind Walk) are ineffective
once the victim is completely submerged. Thievish Jump has a DL of G2.
- Beings using Earthwalk / Hide in Rock Spells or Effects are unaffected
by mud.
- A victim who reaches the edge of the mud may attempt to climb out iby
attempting each second to make a further ST (this time modified by St
rather than Dx(M).
- Spell Casting when the relevant parts of the body are engulfed by mud takes a ratio to Actions of G.
- Once the mouth/nose is engulfed by the mud, the victim will suffocate.
The effect is similar to drowning. If he does not panic, he may hold
his breath and/or breathe by Create Air Spells or Effects. An engulfed victim cannot see through the
mud without X-Ray Vision or Earthsee type Spells or Effects.
- Victims can be hauled out of the mud e.g. using ropes.
Victims may be able to do this themselves (e.g. using a rope with a
grapple). If a victim being hauled out (by whatever means) fails a
ST against sinking further, he will still be sucked S feet towards the bottom of the Pit, but the
method of hauling (even by himself using a grapple) may still give him an
upwards vector.
- On the expiry of the Duration, the mud / rock reverts to its former
state. Any victims caught in it are expelled, and any mud in their
bodies turns to dust.
