SCALE: 4 small squares = 1 mile.
An inner wall of 5 miles radius encloses the Sacred City, with the smaller part West of the River Alma being the grounds of the Imperial Palace, and with the Citadel at its centre, enclosing and protecting the Temple of the Sun Diamond. The Arena and I.D.S. HQ are respectively situated on small islands close to the lake shore of the Sacred City.
Access as of Right to the Sacred City is restricted to the Nobility and Gentry. The Imperial Palace is the private property of the Emperor. The Imperial Guard are based in the Southern tip of the Palace enclosure, and the Privy Council Chamber is located at the North Eastern corner of the Palace complex.
The Noble Houses have their own eighths (confusingly known as Quarters) of the Inner Sacred City. As the Ninth House, the House of Heaven is based on the Temple of Heaven on Earth Site, though it also has a small Heaven Quarter in the Outer Sacred City.
The Valdrean Imperial Library site occupies an exact square mile between the Satril and Gytrasan quarters and touching on the Citadel (into which it has a special gate through the City Wall for use only by the Nobility).
