The Harvest, Fertility
Clerical God
Appears either as a slender, sprightly young girl or as a plump, motherly woman (Who is nevertheless recognisable as an older version of the other. Wears little, if any, clothing or jewellery, but is fond of soft, natural colours that reflect the season. Her hair falls to Her waist and around Her body, and is usually of a rich auburn, especially in Autumn, but may be leaf green, especially in Spring. Favours agricultural implements as weapons, and scorns armour.
ORIL is the Goddess of Fertility and the Harvest.
She generally smiles upon Her followers and rewards them with a good
harvest, but She can be capricious.
Sometimes She bestows a bountiful harvest, but on other occasions the harvest
can be poor. Her Creed teaches
followers to be kind to each other and to enjoy life and its rewards.
Living at one with Nature is a key part of the Creed, as it promotes
happiness, wellbeing and a good harvest.
Following arbitrary rules is less important – one should always follow
one’s heart.
She is worshipped mostly in rural farming communities, but
especially in the Grasslands and Southern Desert of the Overworld, where farming
can be marginal and praying to ORIL can make the difference between survival and
famine, and amongst the Wood Elves, who are particularly close to Nature.
She has few followers in towns and cities, but often has Temples in
market towns and near city markets, where the people rely on a good harvest for
a living.
