5. Transport via [Specified
Plant] (see
Note 6.)
6. Transport via Plants
Ranian Cycle
BTS: 25/30% (Sz)
ULT: 68/75 hours
Materials: a plant (the "Entry Plant")
of the same species or genus (see Note 5.) as target plant (the "Exit Plant"), and at
least as high as the Caster, Passengers and possessions (though not
necessarily as wide)
Actions: Passengers hold hands with Caster / each
other, and Caster steps into Entry Plant in final second of Spell Casting,
followed by Passengers. They may bend down or crawl to comply with
height restriction on Materials.
Effect of Throw:
1 to 15 / 1 to 16 No Effect
³ 16 / ³
17 %age Chance of Success = 5(T-7)%
Passengers: N living passengers -2N (in addition to Caster
- must hold
hands)
Weight: 600w weight points -w(w-1)/2 (excluding body
weight of Caster and Passengers)
Notes:
- Allows the Caster and Passengers to step into the Entry Plant and out
of the Exit Plant, irrespective of distance or Forest.
- The Caster must have previously have instressed at least 10IP from the
Exit Plant. If less than 10IP have been instressed, ratio %age
Chance of Success by (IP instressed)/10. If the Exit Plant was last
instressed before the Caster bound (finished
learning) Transport via Plants, he takes -10 (-1 per 1/10 LT outstanding). There is
also a penalty of -1 per year since Exit Plant was last instressed from. There is no limit to the number of potential Exit Plants which can be
remembered in this way.
- Entry and Exit Plants on different Planes count as different
destinations. Normal penalties apply (see "Casting Spells
between the Planes" in the General Magic-Using System) for Transporting
via Plants to another Plane.
- The Caster must always Transport himself. If he saves, the
Transport
fails for all Passengers.
- The Entry and Exit Plants must both be of the same
species or genus (not family) of plants. For example, the Spell allows transport
between all Oaks of the genus Quercus of
the Beech family Fagaceae, including the sessile oak (Quercus
petraea), the pendunculate or English oak (Quercus robur),
the holm oak (Quercus ilex), the kermes oak (Quercus coccifera),
the cork oak (Quercus suber), the scarlet oak (Quercus
coccinea) and the pin oak (Quercus palustris), but not from
any of these to the
tan oak, which is classified in the genus Lithocarpus, or to any
other members of the Beech family Fagaceae.
- The Spell may be learnt at L5 as Transport via [Specified Plant],
specifying a particular genus of plants,
in which case the Entry and Exit Plants can only be of that
genus. For example, Transport via Oak Trees allows transport only between all
Oaks of the genus Quercus, and
Transport via Olive Trees (popular amongst FIDAR-worshipping Druids)
allows transport only between all Olives of the genus Olea of the
Olive family Oleaceae, and not to or from Ash trees of the genus Fraxinus
of the Olive family Oleaceae.
