Notes:

  1. Cast on a single Target living, corporeal Being in line of sight of Caster.
  2. If Target fails st, he suffers pain throughout the body having the effects specified in the above table.
  3. Effect lasts for Duration, unless death results (which is permanent).
  4. Chars may not be reduced below 0.
  5. Co checks vs Death, Unconsciousness & Incapacitation are made in the order specified.  If one is failed, no further ones are made (except on a subsequent increase in Pain Level).
  6. Incapacitation results in physical collapse and inability to carry on combat or other physical activity (though no bones are broken).  Word and thought Spells may still be cast (subject to the Char minuses).
  7. Unconsciousness results in Incapacitation plus loss of consciousness on the Real, so Word and thought Spells may not be cast.  Dreaming and wandering of the mind in the Realm of Madness may still occur, but subject to the Char minuses.
  8. If Target suffers multiple Pain effects (including from Combat Damage effects as above), they are cumulative.  Pain effects may also be induced by physical torture.  Roll new Co checks on an increase in Pain Level.
  9. Reduce Pain effects cumulatively subtract from Pain effects.  Do not reroll Co checks on a reduction in net Pain Level.
