Elementalist Spell Specification

Class: Gravity

1. Featherfall

BTS: 25% (Sz)

ULT: 50 hours

Materials: a feather

Actions: let Materials fall from hand

Effect of Throw:

-4 to 5 Insanity

6 to 7 Caster accelerates towards normal maximum falling speed at 3 to 2G

8 to 10 No Effect

11 to 23 Max. Speed = 10(25-T) ft/sec

24 to 26 Max. Speed = 5(27-T) ft/sec

27 to 29 Max. Speed = (31-T) ft/sec

>= 30 Max. Speed = 1 ft/sec

A Max. Speed > 1 may be set as a Variable Parameter for no minus.  Max. Speed can never be less than 1 ft/sec.

Rate of Deceleration: c ft/sec2    -(c-1)     where c must be ³1 and has a maximum of 32 * (Level of Elemental performing Spell)

Duration: 30t min - t(t-1)/2

Range: 10d ft -(4+d(d+1)/2) If cast on self, there is no Range minus. If cast on another being or object, Range is at least 0 ft, so there will be a Range minus of at least -4.

Number of passengers: N living passengers: -2N

Weight Carried: 1000w weight points    -(w-1)    (excluding body weight of Caster and Passengers)

Notes:

  1. Featherfall reduces the maximum falling speed of the Target(s) to up to Max. Speed.
  2. Caster may control the rate of descent of himself and any Passengers by using light concentration to increase Max. Speed to any value between Max. Speed and their normal maximum falling speed (inclusive).  Light concentration must be maintained to keep to a maximum falling speed other than Max. Speed.  If no concentration is used, Max. Speed will apply by default.
  3. A Featherfalling Target will tend towards Max. Speed (or the speed set by a concentrating Caster).  If it is falling at less than that speed, it will accelerate towards it at 1G (30-32 ft/sec2).  If it is falling at greater than that speed, it will decelerate towards it at the Rate of Deceleration set as a Variable Parameter (replacing the normal pull of Gravity, as the Gravity Elemental is now pushing up rather than pulling down).  If Caster changes the maximum falling speed, he and any Passengers will tend towards that speed instead.
  4. Featherfall only affects the rate of descent.  It does not allow the Target(s) to hover or rise upwards, only to fall slower or faster.
  5. Air and Water Resistance are cumulative with Featherfall: apply whichever gives the slower Max. Speed.  Sideways wind or current effects have their normal effect, and upwards or downwards wind or current effects modify Rate of Deceleration, but not Max. Speed.
  6. Any vectors given by other Gravity Spells or effects are cumulative with Featherfall.  Where multiple Max. Speeds are in effect, count only those which are being concentrated upon.
  7. Passengers may only be taken if Spell is cast on Caster, not on a Target Being or object.  Passengers must maintain physical contact with Caster or with each other at all times, otherwise the Spell will permanently cease to affect them.
  8. When a Target is on the ground, or otherwise prevented from falling, the Spell will have little noticeable effect, as it will be effectively falling at less than Max. Speed (i.e. 0 ft/sec) so an acceleration of 1G will apply.
  9. For further explanation of Gravity and Falling see the General Notes to Gravity Spells.
