* Crippling or Severing a Chaos Hound's legs (even all of them) will have no effect upon its ability to move at up to its maximum speed, but may possibly deter it from carrying on the chase.

Bleeding effects from Crippling, Severance and Decapitation are as for People, but the spilled blood may Regenerate into separate Chaos Hounds (see note 4).

Other Abilities / Powers / Notes:

  1. Chaos Hounds are predators that hunt through Chaos.  They are highly-prized by certain ChaosMasters, who have tamed their own Chaos Hounds (to an extent, anyway).  Hunting each other's Chaos Hounds, or even each other with Chaos Hounds, is a sport amongst the more jaded.  When Chaos Hounds are encountered, they may well be engaged in a hunt for other prey, and may do no more than swat the party out of the way.
  2. Have the ability to ChaosWalk and can Planewalk and Walk the Otherworlds as necessary in pursuit of prey.
  3. Chaos Hounds are powerful ChaosMasters.  They can Shapechange by ChaosMastery, and may produce various other Magical Effects by ChaosMastery.  They are said to be able to infiltrate a party by gobbling up one of its members and taking his form.  However most (possibly all) of them have not achieved ArchChaosMastery, and may suffer from random adverse effects or their intended effects not working as intended, as lower-level ChaosMasters tend to.
  4. Regenerate @ 1dr HP/MR at end of every MR.  Fire, Acid or Disintegration will not necessarily prevent Regeneration.  If cut into multiple pieces each has a % chance of starting to Regenerate approximately equal to the %age it represents of the whole body (so all, some or no pieces may Regenerate into separate Chaos Hounds!).  Occasionally suffer from Degeneration.
  5. Do not necessarily hunt to their own death, even if ordered to.  Chaos Hounds are wily, and will not hunt down prey that has demonstrated the ability to kill them.  They may however follow at a discreet distance, awaiting a better opportunity.
