A Dream of Spiders

Un’Gora, Spider Queen of Mabul’Adib, reports to the Grand Palaver after Dawn of 10 Aval 2000 that she has been vouchsafed the following trance-vision by UNGOL:

"I saw two industrious Orange Spiders. One was winding the Web of the World up into a ball of silk. The other was unravelling it into a tangle of threads. Reality was breaking down, and the Ways between the Worlds were opening up, as the threads that bound them closed were pulled away.

"Then came a big Blue Spider. It fought with the first Orange Spider, and it won - although the Orange Spider was mighty. The Blue Spider ate that Orange Spider.

"Then that Blue Spider fought with the second Orange Spider. It won again - although that Orange Spider was mightier still. The Blue Spider ate that Orange Spider too.

"The Blue Spider now had the Powers of both of the Orange Spiders. It used those Powers to spin the Web of the World back together. The ball of silk was unwound and joined up to the tangle of threads, which was disentangled, and the Ways between the Worlds were sewn shut once again.

"The big Blue Spider returned to the centre of the Web of the World, and awaited its next prey…

"Mighty is UNGOL, Queen of All Spiders! Terrible is the Fear She inspires in Her Prey!"
