4th Level Fighter - Favoured Weapon: Broad Sword
Broad Sword, 'Lionward': increases ability to hit and to cause damage. Glows with a white light.
See enclosed Information Sheets for history and politics.
It is an unwritten rule of Valdrean politics that the Commander of the Imperial Guard desires to become Emperor. To this end you have seduced the Empress Harina (though she is not a very good lay). She and her husband have long lived separate lives. Her son is a religious fanatic and disapproves of her lifestyle, but despite this you have been unable to turn her against Marcus. You have reached the point where Harina and you idly plot the murder of Leo, lying in bed together after sex. She says she loves you, for what that is worth. You act dumb when with her.
Now Leo has cocked up a State Visit to Iklaron to the extent that the six of you are shipwrecked on the Secret Isle. The Imperial Flagship was blown away from the rest of the fleet in stormy weather and only your lifeboat was spared. You cannot believe Leo's incompetence, and your own luck.
The six are (i) you, (ii) Leo, (iii) Harina, (iv) Marcus, (v) Lascer Duke of Omec, and (vi) Taris (nicknamed "Greyhawk"), Lord High Executioner, Imperial Inquisitor and Master of the Imperial Games. Clearly Leo and Marcus have to be eliminated, the latter without Harina suspecting. Lascer is a hopeless drug addict and can be discounted. Taris is the real danger: he is cold, calculating and utterly ruthless. He might be bought off, but that would be risky. The only sure solution is to eliminate him too.
On the other hand this might all be too risky...

The reason 'Lionward' glowed constantly with a white light was of course that it only glows in the presence of threats to the Emperor, and Jiclex its bearer was such a threat. But the Empire had become so decadent that nobody realised this any more.
