The Illuminator is the ultimate trip - pure Chaos. Take it once and you are on it forever - sharing the experience with the other Illuminati. The drug multiplies within you and can be passed on to others. It takes your boring old personality and mixes it with those of all the others, in a rich sauce of Chaos. A whole new and higher level of experience is opened to you - and there are no harmful side-effects. Far from it - sometimes you seem to be able to do all manner of strange new things. This is the drug to end all drugs. After years of experimenting with other substances Lascer joined the Illuminati some time ago, and is probably now their leading light.

Lascer is shipwrecked on the Secret Isle. The quirk of Chaos that carried him there also brought along the Emperor Leo (who is becoming increasingly paranoid), the Empress Harina (a harlot with whom Lascer dallied before his Illumination), Crown Prince Marcus (a SARAN fanatic who is a threat to the Chaos), Jiclex (the rather wooden Commander of the Imperial Guard) and Taris the Greyhawk (a nasty piece of work who combines the functions of killing people on the Emperor's orders, seeking out so-called traitors for the chop, and organising the circuses that keep the mob happy).
Spread the Illuminator. Replace any Illuminati that are lost.

The Illuminator was of course the Starweb, first introduced in 1-off A: To Catch a Falling Star... By the Year 950 it had become diluted by the Law in the World, and was not as powerful as before.
