The Hyaena Cults

Temple of the Hyaena Cult

The Way of the Hyaena teaches stealth, ferocity, opportunism and letting others do the difficult and dangerous work, then stepping in to seize the spoils.  But it is also about working together with one's pack to achieve such goals.

Hyaenas are Animals of the Underworld, but may also be found on the fringes of the Wildernesses of the Overworld.  The Hyaena Cults are despised by most other Beastmaster Cultists, but as scavengers Hyaenas perform a useful function in cleaning up carcasses and other waste.  They are generally associated with TERRIK, E/C God of Waste, and their Patron, THE GREAT LAUGHING HYAENA, is usually an Aspect of TERRIK (although CORNUTUR and other Beings may also adopt that guise).  Hyaena Cults often take over abandoned Secret Temples of other Gods of Evil, rather than building their own.  Some Cults are rumoured to include Werehyaenas, infected with Hyaena Lycanthropy.

The main Hyaena Cults are as follows:

Beastmaster Druids who have been chosen by the Hyaena as their Totem Animal have a Hyaenidic Cycle of Druidic Spells, the Medium for which is Bone, concerned with scavenging and repurposing Natural materials.  Their Shamen wander in The Laughing Land, the Dreamworld of Hyaenas, which lies on the fringes of the Dreamworlds of other Animals and the Realm of Nightmare.  They breed and grow Giant Hyaenas.
