Sacred Circles of the Jungle

The Druids of the Jungle have established three groups of Sacred Circles: those of the Sub-Forests of the Jungle, those of the main Totem Animals of the Beastmasters of the Jungle, and those of the main Totem Trees of the Tree Shamen.  There are also various Minor Circles established by the Cults of other Totem Animals or Totem Trees or by local Cults of the main Totems.  Some Circles perform a dual function as a Circle of a Sub-Forest and of its main Totem Tree, and all have three sets of Links: one to each group of Circles.

The Circles are mostly of Totem Poles or of Trees, with a few exceptions (usually on the mountainous fringes). The Sacred Heart at The Great Totems of the Mabula Basin is made up of two concentric Circles: the Inner Circle being 12 Totem Poles of the Beastmaster Totem Animals and the Outer Circle being a ring of 13 great Kapok Trees, each carved with a Totem of one of the other 13 main Totem Trees.  However the Beastmasters of the Jungle acknowledge the Lion as the King of the Jungle, and therefore treat Lion Circle as their true Sacred Heart.

The following are the three groups of Sacred Circles, together with a selection of Minor Circles.  The numbering corresponds to that on the Circles marked on the above map.

  5. F = Frog (Poison & Dream Dealers)

  6. L = Lion (alternate Sacred Heart: Cat Cults)

  7. M = Monkey (Gorilla/Orang-Utang)

  8. P = Panther / Leopard (Cat Cults)

  9. Sn = Snake (Green Anacondas)

  10. Sp = Spider (Deadly Tarantulas)

  11. Tg = Tiger (Cat Cults)

  12. W = Water Buffalo (Cattle Cults)

Minor Beastmaster Circles

  1. AA = Spider (Atrocious Aracids: Poison Dealers via Port Kambo)

  2. BB = Boa (Black Boas)

  3. FB = Fruit Bat

  4. Gi = Giraffe

  5. G = Gorilla

  6. H = Hyaena (a circular chamber with bas-relief Totems in a long-abandoned ziggurat, which was the former hiding place of the Book of Evil Neutrality before 2218)

  7. FS = Flying Squirrel

  8. PD = Painted Dog

  9. PE = Pygmy Elephant (Secret Sacred Circle of the Pygmy Tribes - location shown on map is not necessarily accurate)

  10. Py = Python (Pitiless Pythons)

  11. SB = Spectacled Bear

All of these Circles have their counterpart Dark Circles, although for some the Dark Circle has become dominant and the Light Circle is the counterpart (e.g. Crocodile, Atrocious Aracids and Hyaena Circles).  The Dark Heart of the Jungle is The Dark Totems, which is said to lie in the Dark Kapok Forest.
