2. Locate Animals
Yribt Cycle
Effect of Throw:
BTS: n/a
ULT: 16 hours
Materials: none
Actions: describe the Target Animal by hand
movements / pulling faces
Effect of Throw:
1 to 11 No Effect
³ 12 Radius
(T-10) miles
Duration: t hrs - (t-1)
Notes:
- Caster must specify a Target species or genus of Animal.
He may
specify a particular specimen previously instressed by him.
-
Animals are mobile natural life forms, which are not part of a
particular Forest, though they will have an affinity with it, and they may
be part of a hive / swarm or herd. They
include Mammals, Reptiles, Birds, Fish, Insects and Organisms (including
non-mobile Organisms), but do not include ambulatory Vegetables. Nor
do they include
Lycanthropes or other Monsters (e.g. a
Giant Panther
is a Feline Monster, which may count as a Cat for certain purposes but is
not an Animal for the purpose of this Spell).
- Whilst Caster uses
light concentration at
any time during Duration he will be aware of the location, in the sense of
direction and approximate distance (e.g. it's just over those hills over
there) to, the nearest live specimen of the Target Animal within the
Radius. Location updates as Target moves. Where eligible
Targets are of equal distance, the greatest number or finest specimen is
Located.
- Target does not have to be
within same Forest as Caster's location on Casting.
- Locate Animals only gives a
general indication of direction and distance. To find the precise
location of the Targeted specimen, it may be necessary to use
Detect Animals. If Caster has
Locate and Detect Animals in Effect simultaneously, the Locate Animals
will indicate exactly which Detected Animal is the Located Targeted
specimen.
- The
Targeted specimen is fixed upon resolution of the Spell, so if for example
it should be killed during Duration the Caster will get no further
readings.
- A maximum Radius may be specified. If there is no specimen
satisfying the necessary criteria within the Radius, there is no effect.
If Target moves beyond current Radius from Caster, Spell fails (even if
subsequently comes back within Radius).
