8. Phasewalk
J'Ungol Cycle
Spider Cultists only
BTS: 68% (At)
ULT: 100 hrs
Materials: Three different things related to spiders, one of which
must be something one would think only a madman would carry
Actions: touch Materials to each other
Effect of Throw:
>= 18 Max Speed of Ethereal Form = (T/3) ft/sec FRD
Duration: 18t min - t(t-1)/2
Range: 3d ft -(4+d(d+1)/2) If cast on self, there is no Range
minus. If cast on others, Range is at least 0 ft, so there will
be a Range minus of at least -4.
Notes:
- The Spell may be cast on one Target only.
- A successful cast of the
Spell allows the Target to move his current form (physical or spiritual, as
at time of Casting) between the Real Plane, Ethereal Plane and Spider Kingdom
by 1 sec's light
concentration at any time during the Duration. The Spell does not
allow simultaneous presence on more than one plane.
- See the rules
on the Ethereal Plane for more detail
thereon.
- At the end of the Duration, the Target is translated from his current
Plane to the equivalent point on the Plane he was on when the Spell was Cast.
- Multiple
Ethereal effects are not cumulative, but the Target has the highest Max
Speeds of and the longest Duration on all such effects upon him.
- The Spider Kingdom is variously known as The Gossamer Realm, The Web World,
The Spinney, J'Ungol (amongst the Spider
Cultists of the Jungle) or Ungwenórë (Quenya).
It is an Otherworld with close links with the
Realm of Madness (Domain of MORCOR) and the
Dreamworld of Nightmare (Domain of KASHAT).
It does not have the same direct physical correspondence as between the Real
and Ethereal Planes.
- Phasewalk does not confer any Webwalking
effect or Protection from Madness. If an area of the Spider Kingdom that
is within the Realm of Madness is left by Phasewalking, it is equivalent to
Teleporting out (even if in one's
spiritual form).
- It is whispered that the death of one's
physical form in the Spider Kingdom does not return one's soul to the House of
Karma...
