Sacred Heart
Druid Cycle
BTS: n/a
ULT: 100 hours
Materials: a place with
Circs Mod >= Circs Mod
Required, marked by a Circle. A Circle may be a ring of stones, trees
or other markers appropriate to the Forest of which this is to be the Sacred
Heart. Twelve is the traditional number of markers, with or without a
central thirteenth marker.
Actions: move round the Circle, denoting each
marker by words or physical markers with appropriate aspects of and/or
connections within or without the Forest of which this is to be the Sacred
Heart. Such denoting does not of itself establish permanent links.
The Actions are usually elaborated into a formal ceremony involving a group
of Druids.

The type of Sacred Heart to be Established must be specified in the
Incantation and by means of the Actions.
Radius: 60r ft -r(r-1)/2 The entire Radius must
be of Circs Mod Required, or only the part >= Circs Mod Required will be
designated as the Sacred Heart.
Notes:
- It may be necessary first to raise the Circs Mod of the target place.
The Naturalise Place Spell can be used
for this.
- The Spell immediately and permanently designates the target place as
the Sacred Heart
of the type to be Established as specified for the area in which it is
located.
- The Radius only designates the extent of the Sacred Heart. The
area of which it is Sacred Heart depends on the relative positions of
other Sacred Hearts and the Circs Mods of the areas between them, and may
vary as Nature grows, changes or declines.
- The Spell is to be used with extreme care. If another Sacred
Heart already exists for the area, the result is to fragment into separate
Forests, Sub-Forests, or Localities as applicable. Establishing a
Sacred Heart of a Minor Forest within a Major Forest will separate the
area from that Major Forest and establish it as a Minor Forest in its own
right. Sub-Forests are subsidiary to either Major or Minor Forests.
Localities are subsidiary to Sub-Forests.
- The Radius only designates the extent of the Sacred Heart. The
area of which it is Sacred Heart depends on the relative positions of
other Sacred Hearts and the Circs Mods of the areas between them, and may
vary as Nature grows, changes or declines.
- If a Sacred Heart falls below its Circs Mod Required, it ceases to
function as a Sacred Heart, and is effectively suspended. But
provided that the Circle remains, the Sacred Heart may be restored as such
by raising the Circs Mod to the Required level, without the need for a
further Sacred Heart Spell.
- A Sacred Heart may be permanently de-designated as such by destroying
or removing its Circle. All the markers need to be removed, though
removing some of them may give a % chance of de-designation.
- There are only Twelve Major Forests of each of the Overworld and
Underworld. To create a Thirteenth without de-designating an
existing one would be a major disruption of the Natural order.
- The Sacred Hearts are all connected. To establish the links from
a new Sacred Heart to existing ones, the
Establish Link Spell can be used.
