Habitat: Green Areas, especially in or near freshwater rivers, lakes and swamps, Chaos, Dreams, (Toads only:) Madness, especially the Dark Forest

Language: none

Movement:

Lope for short distances at up to 5 ft/sec, but normally move by Hopping up to 10ML ft at a time or by Thievish Jump (as below).

Can also Swim at up to 12 ft/sec = 72 ft/MR = 8 mph

Fighter Abilities:

ML/3, FRU AMR    D = 25 + (5ML) %    RD = 5 + (5ML) %    5 + (5ML) HP

Attack Modes:

Tongue up to 5ML ft @ A = 10ML %, DAM = d6 + 5% chance of sticking per DAM inflicted (before ADS).  If sticks, will pull prey back into its mouth in next sec.

Bite @ A = 5ML %, DAM = d(ML) + 5% chance of grabbing per DAM inflicted (before ADS) and pulling prey into mouth in next sec.

Once prey is in mouth, will proceed to chew on it with automatically hitting Bite attacks per sec or swallow it whole in d4 secs, after which stomach does d6 Acid Damage per sec, BTS (55+5(ML-5))% (Co).  Need to do 60% Damage to Abdomen to cut one's way out / 120% to cut someone out.

Some Jungle Species have Spit Poison up to 10ML ft @ A = 8ML %, DAM = 0 + ML Poison Levels if hits exposed skin

Bleeding effects from Decapitation, Crippling and Severance of Legs are as for People.  Thievish Jump ability is lost if a Hind Leg is Crippled or Severed.

Other Abilities / Powers / Notes:

  1. Giant Toads and Giant Frogs are Reptilian (but not Saurian) Monsters.
  2. Giant Toads and Giant Frogs are different Species and have differences in appearance.  But for game purposes they share the same Specification.
  3. They have Water Breathing.
  4. Many Species are Poisonous with ML Poison Levels, but this is normally a defence mechanism agianst being eaten rather than a mode of attack.
  5. Some Beastmaster / Reptilian Cults of the Great Swamp, Taur-Galen and the Jungle breed Giant Toads or Frogs as guardians (generally poisonous species) or as mounts to ride (Evil Cults preferring Toads).  They have carrying capacity 2000 + 250ML wt pts, and take encumbrance penalties to movement (including to Swimming and Jumping movement) as for Horses, as stated in sections 4.5 & 4.6 of the General Systems.
