Range: 10d ft -d(d-1)/2

Notes:

  1. The Spell targets a specific Hit Loc Area on a single Target Being.  It may be Cast upon a Target Being who is not actually Bleeding.
  2. The Target Being may make sts against the Fire Damage, not the Cauterization Effect.  A st against the fire damage halves the damage taken (FRU: e.g. 5 is halved to 2), and a further st may then be made to halve it again. Once a st is failed, the Target takes the remaining fire damage. The min ADS of any armour that covers the majority of the body subtracts from the damage taken. All damage taken is general damage.
  3. Fire Resistance Effects subtract from both the Fire Damage and Cauterization effect.  Note the Fire Damage is in points of Damage, not dice.  So e.g. a Fire Resistance -2 would only subtract 2 from the total Fire Damage (not 2 per die as normal).
  4. Irrespective of the extent to which the Target Being saves vs. the Fire Damage, the Cauterization Effect stops Bleeding from the target Hit Loc Area at -1HP/MR per point of Fire Damage given by Throw.
  5. The Target Being must already be bleeding (e.g. from Damage or an Increase Bleeding Spell for the Spell to have effect.  Casting the Spell on a Target Being before he has suffered a Bleeding effect does not protect him from a subsequent Bleeding effect, but if Cauterize resolves in the same second as a Bleeding effect, then it will be effective against that Bleeding.
  6. Does not cure the Damage caused by Bleeding or the Damage which has resulted in the Bleeding (but does permanently reduce the Bleeding caused by that Damage, even if more Damage is taken in the Target Hit Loc Area).
  7. Bleeding is General Damage, though it occurs through an existing wound. If Target has multiple Bleeding wounds, the most serious is stopped first and any remaining reduction from the Spell is then applied to the next most serious, and so on.
  8. Bleeding occurs evenly through the MR: e.g. a 1HP/MR Bleeding causes 1HP initially, then 1HP in the same sec of each subsequent MR; a 6HP/MR Bleeding causes 1HP/sec.
  9. Cauterize counts as a Stop Bleeding Spell, and as such is cumulative with other Stop Bleeding Spells and Increase Bleeding Spells.
  10. Targets may also attempt to staunch the bloody flow. A hand over the wound stops 1HP/MR if kept in place constantly. A bandage stops 3HP/MR, and halves the remaining flow (FRD).
  11. Cauterization may also be attempted with a heated weapon, doing d4/2 Fire Damage (FRU) less any Fire Resistance to a Hit Loc Area (BTS 60% (Co)) and stopping the same amount of Bleeding/MR from that Hit Loc Area as the resulting Damage, whether or not the Damage is saved against.
