ULT: 100 hours

3 to 12 Insanity

13 to 15 Target is Paralised for Duration.  He loses control of his body, but retains control of his mind and senses and is able to cast thought or reflex Spells.  He will detect as being alive (having a breath and pulse) and can be affected normally by Spells or Effects that only affect living Beings.

16 to 19 No Effect

³ 20 Hide Life if (Effective T of Incoming Spell) ≤ (T of Suspend Animation)

Duration:    t Cds    - t    (may specify maximum when Casting, which may be in lesser units of time than Cds)

Range:    d ft    -(4+d)    If cast on self, there is no Range minus. If cast on others, Range is at least 0 ft, so there will be a Range minus of at least -4.

Notes:

  1. Cast on a single Target living body.
  2. Suspend Animation makes Target lose all bodily and mental function for Duration and appear to be dead.  Physically he will not breathe or have a pulse.  He cannot be targeted or affected by Spells or Effects that only affect living Beings unless they have an Effective Throw that is greater than that achieved on the Suspend Animation.  The Spell is also effective against the Detect Life ability of Undead.
  3. For El and Dr Spells Effective Throw will normally equal the final Throw, but Detect Life Spells or Effects may give a higher Effective Throw.  For Cl Spells Effective Throw = T/5.  The Effective T of Potions is that of the Spell Cast in creating them.  The Effective Throw of the Detect Life ability of Undead is (10 + 3UL).
  4. Thievish Spot Details will not detect signs of life (such as breathing or a pulse) on Target.
  5. Target does not need food, water or air to survive whilst in Suspended Animation and does not breath, urinate or excrete.  His D and RD are 0 (subject to Spells and Effects that modify D and RD and do not require him to be dodging) and he takes Damage normally (and will Bleed and can die from it, but feels no pain).
  6. A Target in Suspended Animation cannot Cast thought or reflex Spells, Dream or wander the Realm of Madness (but may be found in Suspended Animation in Dreams or Madness if he was there before his Animation was Suspended).
  7. Target cannot come out of Suspended Animation at will, but will do so if the Suspend Animation is Dispelled.
  8. Suspend Animation is a Hide Life Effect.  Incoming Spells that only affect living Beings will not affect Target even if their Casters know that he is actually alive, unless they have successfully Detected Life on him after all Hide Life effects currently affecting him had come into effect.
