Appears in the form of a soldier in red apparel, with a golden crown. and bestriding a red horse.  Speaks in clear and persuasive voice, but is a great liar, and Her advice must not be trusted.

In Circle:

  1. Can identify whether any statement made by a Participant is truthful or a lie, but may lie about the result.  For a statement to be a lie, its speaker must believe it to be untrue on at least a balance of probabilities.  Truthsaying may be ineffective if the speaker simply does not know (e.g. is reading out loud what someone else has written) or does not distinguish between truth and fiction (but not if he/she simply professes such a belief).  If the speaker believes a statement to be untrue, but it is in fact true, it will still be a lie.
  2. Will Falsesight any item or Being produced to Her and lie about its alternative form.  If BERITH is Bound by a Pact not to reveal a particular lie or foiled by an effective Misdetect, She will elaborate with even greater falsity.  Whether a Misdetect is effective against Her may depend on the strength of the Chance of Success of Summoning Him.
  3. Will falsely teach a Participant how to Falsesight, as a non-standard Thievish Activity (gives a -1 Experience plus, but no experience against ThL).

In Triangle:

  1. Can be compelled to identify honestly whether any statement made by a Participant is a lie.  Does not admit that there exists absolute truth - truth and lies are entirely a subjective matter so far as BERITH is concerned.
  2. Can be compelled to say what She actually sees when Falseseeing any item or Being produced to Her.  If BERITH is Bound by a Pact not to reveal a particular lie or foiled by an effective Misdetect, She will still lie despite the compulsion from being in the Triangle.  Whether a Misdetect is effective against Her may depend on the strength of the Chance of Success of Summoning Her.
  3. Pact: may be Bound not to reveal a particular lie, or to reveal a particular lie which She has been paid less not to reveal.  Many Higher Powers have made such Pacts to protect Their double-dealing.
  4. Pact: may permanently turn any statement that would otherwise be considered absolute truth into a lie, so that RONOBE will state it to be absolute truth if so compelled by any lesser compulsion than the Pact with BERITH.
