Anarea        1-off D: Breaking the Law        7 to 26 Aval 2000

The Scenarios

Note that there are now three alternate versions of the story, designated Versions A, B & C.  The DM decides before the game begins which is being played.  The Clues / Red Herrings in the initial Scenarios 1 to 10 may point to all Versions, and will be Clues for that being played and Red Herrings for the others (the DM may give them different emphasis dependent on the Version being played).  Scenario 11 contains different Clues / Red Herrings depending on the Version being played.  Scenarios 12 & 13 have different Scenario Sheets for each Version.  Scenarios 14 & 15 are applicable to all Versions.  The Background Information sheet on “The Story of Namaja” also has different Versions A, B & C.

The original "Breaking the Law" used Version A, which is the "true" story from the history of mainstream Anarea.  "Breaking the Law 2" was also intended to use Version A, the materials for which presented here are essentially the revised ones prepared for "Breaking the Law 2".  Versions B & C are new ones created in 2008, partly incorporating material designed for other unplayed 1-offs, and represent possible alternate histories.  "Breaking the Law 3" was played using Version B.

The sequence is not necessarily to be played in order.  It may be possible to reach the final Scenarios without going through all the earlier ones, or to find different solutions to those indicated in the designed Scenarios.

L = Scenario Sheet held by Law Player at beginning of game

N = Scenario Sheet held by Neutral Player at beginning of game

C = Scenario Sheet held by Chaos Player at beginning of game

X = Scenario Sheet held by no NPC Players at beginning of game

As the PC Players enter each Scenario, the relevant Scenario Sheet will then be handed to all three NPC Players.

"Dummy Scenarios" will also be used, to avoid the PC Players realising they have wandered off the pre-designed path.  Scenarios for Versions not being played may also be used if the PC Players follow up the Red Herrings that lead to them.
