The Cult of Shadows

Shadow Warrior

Step into the brightest and darkest alley off a Street of False Gods and into its shadowiest alcove, and you may find yourself in a Temple of Shadows.  URIEL,the  E/N God of Shadows, will be worshipped there.  But His Priests will deny all knowledge of any Cult of Shadow Warriors or Assassins.  For one does not simply volunteer to join The Cult of Shadow.  One is born into it or recruited into it.

URIEL, E/N Demon of Shadows of the Host of ALTIS, is the Patron of The Cult of Shadows and dwells in The Palace of Shadows, deep in the Shadowlands - a Dreamworld that exists between other Dreams and is accessed through shadows.  The Creed of Shadows teaches that opportunity is to be found between Light and Darkness, and one should wait patiently in the Shadows until it presents itself, when it should be seized without hesitation or remorse.

The Cult operates in great secrecy, but its most well-known branch is the Thievish Brotherhood of The Society of Shadows, which operates across the Underworld and also has a branch in Vavistor in the Overworld.  The Priesthood of the Temple of Shadows may also be found off Streets of False Gods in larger cities of the Underworld or Overworld, and acts as a front for the Cult.  The Cult is also established amongst the Sindar Elves of the Lost Country and in Taur-Galen, where the Cultists are known as the Gwathuirim.  It is rumoured that the Gwathuirim of the Lost Country instress from the shadows of plants and animals and have a Shadow Cycle of Dark Druid Spells.

The Society of Shadows are a Thievish Cult of Assassins and Dream Dealers, cultivating hallucinatory plants in the Shadowlands and Transporting them to market via the shadows.  They Hide in Shadows, have the ability to disguise themselves as shadows, can Transport via Shadows and control Shadow Spirits and Shadowmen.  Some elite Assassination squads are said to ride Shadow Beasts.  They are therefore rightly feared, but are most powerful between Light and Darkness. Both Light and Darkness Spells and Effects negate their advantages, due to the even, shadowless Radiation within the Radius.
