The Tree-City of Mírlinnyrn

Upon the highest of the low hills in the heart of the Forest of Minduinath (which is a Sub-Forest of the Forest of Taur Galen) grows the finest and tallest Mallorn wood in all the World.  Amongst these fine trees the High Elves of the Calaquendi crafted the Tree-City of Mírlinnyrn.  There are no buildings in Mírlinnyrn, for its inhabitants dwell on flets (platforms) and in bowers amongst the mighty branches of the Mallorn trees (Malinorni), connected by stairs, walkways and bridges (mostly without handrails).

At the summit of the hill lies the Heart Grove of Corinenda.  The central and tallest tree of the Grove is the Arnataulë (Royal Tree), which serves as the palace and centre of government of King Oberon and Queen Titania (the names are honorifics applied to the current King and Queen).  Around it grow a ring of twelve Temple Trees dedicated to the major Gods of the Calaquendi, in the following order (counting widdershins from Anarwards):

  1. SARAN - also Valdrean Embassy and Ninquiroqueni (White Riders)
  2. FIDAR
  3. WACON (BUDIF until 24 XIII 2500) - also Aldatirnor (Guardians of the Mallorns)
  4. PAREL - also Lindamehtari (Singing Paladins) and Lindolië (Bird Cults)
  5. ESCUS - also Rácalië (Wolf Cult)
  6. SHELDA - also Losseroqueni (Knights of the Rose)
  7. RAYLIT - also houses Temple of MIRIMI
  8. OPSOR & TIPRE (ORIL until 8 VI 2501) - also Morcolië (Bear Cult)
  9. DALA - also houses Temple of MERLO (Dreams) and Quentaror (Rumourmongers)
  10. ALTIS - also Hrótanwalmëo (Halls of Torment / Dungeons) and Lómërámarond (Bat Cave)
  11. KOROS - also Aldalië (Tree Cult)
  12. WAGREN (LOFIR until 2297) - also houses Temple of UNGOL & Liantelië (Spider Cult) and Otornassë (Thieves' Guild)

As the political heart of Mírlinnyrn, the Temple Trees also house a number of other Factions and Cults associated with their respective Gods, the most important of which are indicated above).  In the underground caverns formed by their roots are storehouses and the Library (Noldothrond), which is guarded and maintained by the Liantelië.

As a Sacred Heart, the Heart Grove of Mírlinnyrn has a number of connections with other Sacred Hearts within the greater Forest of Taur Galen and with the Otherworlds.  When the mists are in the air or in secret places cultivated by certain Factions, it is possible to step directly into the Otherworlds.  On Midsummer's Night it is said the Heart Grove and parts of the City become one with the Mallorn Kingdom, and the King and Queen and the Aldalië perform a Ritual to maintain the Balance whilst the Aldatirnor stand guard.
